Gloworm 2018 – Camping Itinerary

We would like to welcome you and thank you, we have a fun packed weekend in store so hopefully we can make your stay with us a great one!

Gloworm Camping news

There will still be a completed ban on camp fires and BBQs at Gloworm this year due to the extreme weather.  However, we are very pleased to announce that we will be installing a designated cooking area, strictly for camping stoves only, this is after talking with our partners at Thoresby Park and the team at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue.

The area will be manned and will have added fire bins, extinguishers and blankets. There will be a metal tables and a bricked area for you to put your camp stoves on, please do not place them on the grassed area. In addition to this we are also adding extra microwaves, kettles, a hot water Burco and a kitchen work surfaces with working hobs to help over the weekend.

We thank you for your patience on these matters, as you can appreciate, whilst you and your family’s safety is paramount to us, hopefully these upgrades to the camping facilities will ensure that you have more enjoyable stay with us.

Please be respectful whilst using the area and make sure you keep it in clean condition for your fellow campers

This area is for people who don't have any other means of preparing food and drink due to the ban.

Be aware busy times there maybe queuing.

The areas on each site will be clearly signed

A note from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue

As we say goodbye to one of warmest summers on record, it looks as if the heatwave is set to continue well in to next week.

Don’t forget, whenever there are naked flames present, there is always the chance that a flame or spark could become a serious fire.

When cooking, it is a well-known fact that when your attention stops, fires start, and this is also the case with naked flames. Always ensure that someone is monitoring the flames and never leave children unsupervised near a cooker or stove.

If you are a smoker, take extra care in the hot weather as a discarded cigarette in the wrong place could cause a fire – particularly if they are discarded in the countryside or on grassland. As we have seen in the last couple of weeks, fires in the country can spread quickly and can be a significant drain on the emergency services.  Always ensure cigarette ends are fully stubbed out before you throw them away.

You can still have fun in the sun, but just be sure to keep your safety in mind and ensure that your summer doesn’t turn sour.

“The extra measures which Gloworm Festival have identified due to the weather are appropriate and would show good management”
